Welcome to my Whirled.
The Whirled below the surface.

With so many wild dance clubs, spooky houses, and dark forests available on Whirled, I decided to do something totally different. Sick of the land view? Come see the sea. Tired of loud, fast-paced music? Need a place to de-stress? My Whirled has relaxing music and a calming atmosphere.
All images and animations in this Whirled are made by me. All the corals, sponges, fluctuating surface lights, and swimming fish are my own creations from scratch in Photoshop CS2. Various photo and video references were used to determine the proper details for the fish and how fast they should swim, in some cases. If you hover over them with your mouse, their species name will appear.
Animations were done frame by frame in ImageReady CS2. I do not have Flash and have never used it. The only Flash involved in this entire project is a tiny bit of help I got from *caat
, who removed a misplaced frame in the animation of the regal tang when it repeatedly rendered improperly in ImageReady. For that, I am grateful.
The music, which I have been given permission to use, is royalty-free and complies with the rules of the contest. I specifically inquired with one of the judges about it, who confirmed it was okay to use.
I'm proud of my entry and of myself for making it. Whether I win anything or not, I've learned that I have the motivation to complete a relatively large project in a limited amount of time. I've learned not to worry about what tools I don't have but to dream about how much is possible with the ones I do. I really enjoyed doing this, and I hope everyone who enters my Whirled enjoys the result. The sunfish, the sea stars, and an urchin have been added. They can be hovered over like the fish to find out the species.
